Welcome to Jaydür

Here it is. The official, finished map of Jaydür--the place my mind has been since I was thirteen years old. It is the home of Nahtaia, the perpetually-offended blue faery that earned 3.7 million reads online (and book reports from an 8th grade class in Mexico).

Back in January, I decided I would seek out a map-maker, and it was Cornelia Yoder who reached out to me. I looked at her work. I spoke with her a bit. It wasn't long before I decided I wanted to work with her.

Cornelia was fast. She was knowledgable. She was everything I needed in a map-maker, because I had never done this before, and I was beyond anxious. How could I not be? I knew whatever map that came out of this would be the map tagged on to every book taking place in Jaydür. It's the one piece of art that will follow the existence of this world from now on.

With all that anxiety, I secretly looked to someone I highly respect in the literary world for some sense of ease, and I got that ease a couple days before the map was finalized. Not even kidding. It was right on time.

Yes, I over-worried myself, as I suspected. But can you blame me? I'm learning more about publishing every day as I push forward. It's only been through the kind words of those familiar with the deep, dark waters of publishing that I've gotten this far.

Now, here I am, and I can just cry. I am so, so, so, excited to see my world come to life in this way.

So, ladies and gentlemen, I give you the lands and waters of Jaydür.

The Chronicles of Jaydür are coming in April, and you'll get to see so much more of this world in depth. The mad dwarves. The cruel trolls. The dauntless dragons. And even some you won't find as familiar; vacinians, earthmovers, and ash wraiths.

Ready for another secret? From here on out, all of it will be brought to life by an artist from Blizzard Entertainment...starting with Nahtaia's new cover! How the heck did I get so blessed?
